Haida Gwaii, British Colubmia

Haida Gwaii, literally "Islands of the Haida people", is an archipelago approximately 45–60 km (30–40 mi) off the northern Pacific coast of Canada. Haida Gwaii consists of two main islands: Graham Island in the north and Moresby Island. The islands are home to dramatic landscapes, abundant wildlife, and some of the world’s richest heritage treasures with more than 500 archaeological sites. Haida Gwaii’s climate produces lush vegetation and abundant wildlife. Groups of Sitka deer feed on the grassy clearings along the Queen Charlotte Highway, and eagles—often hundreds at a time—can be seen flying overhead in spring and summer. Also protected, but under provincial jurisdiction, are several provincial parks, the largest of which is Naikoon Provincial Park on northeastern Graham Island.
