Day 1 Gulf Islands, British Colubmia

The Gulf Islands are the islands in the Strait of Georgia (also known as the Salish Sea or the Gulf of Georgia), between Vancouver Island and the mainland of British Columbia, Canada. The islands share West Coast natural beauty and weather, and a culture forged from generations of independent-thinking residents, yet each has its own character, history and amenities, which are readily discerned through a visit or two. The Gulf Islands range substantially in size, population and services, but all of them offer safe, rural environments and an escape from the stress of a busy life.

Day 2 Alert Bay, British Colubmia

Alert Bay is a village on Cormorant Island, in British Columbia, Canada. Alert Bay is 4.9 km long, and 0.8 km wide at its narrowest point, and visitors can easily walk or bike around. The first stop for many visitors is the Visitor Centre and the U'mista Cultural Centre which houses Native Masks and Artifacts. Alert Bay is a Home to the Namgis First Nation.

Groups of Sitka deer feed on the grassy clearings along the Queen Charlotte Highway, and eagles—often hundreds at a time—can be seen flying overhead in spring and summer.
